Large areas all over Romania are planted with rapeseed, an oilseed plants. In May of each year, following the country’s roads you can see all yellow of rape fields.

Rape honey is an interesting honey, easily distinguishable from the other varieties of honey, primarily by white color, sometimes white-gray-yellow, creamy consistency and because “like sherbet.” It has a specific smelleasy unpleasant flavor of cabbage, but has a pleasant taste and less sweet than other types of honey.

The Rape honey crystallization occurs very rapidly due to high glucose (dextrose), fructose is much higher than (levulose). For this reason, rape honey found only in crystallized form, whatever time of year.
